The Most Dangerous Type of Investment: Severe Financial Freedom Mistakes

One of the biggest mistakes I see good people make is tying up their money in an asset that just can't take them to their goals.

I like to call the assets you choose "freedom vehicles", because words matter—if you're looking for a place to park your money and beat inflation, that's a very different set of assets than a portfolio that can produce financial freedom.

There are actually very few freedom vehicles around today accessible to people like you and me (I'll be releasing a guide on this soon).

One of the greatest things you can do when looking at your long-term financial future is be sure you spend more time in due diligence in finding and understanding the type of assets you'll invest in than you spend simply deploying capital.

If you regularly invest, you're ahead of most Americans, but that won't save you. You must know what you want, and select asset classes and portfolio distributions that will make what you want actually possible.

In a nutshell, this is a game of understanding the mechanisms of return (such as rental demand, appreciation, and tax advantages) in that particular asset class, and positioning yourself to capture them for the long-term (this is why ownership is so important—ALL of the major advantages go to the owner, not the co-host or arbitrager).

If you can't rattle off the major advantages of Lifestyle Asset short term rentals, you can reacquaint yourself with all of the reasons we're so passionate about this asset class in my free training video.

Our time is the most valuable asset we have, and we capture the value of that time by the returns we make on our money. Failing to deploy your hard-earned money into something that will give you back what matters most to you is a tragedy. Don't let it happen to you because of ignorance.

Selecting the right "freedom vehicles" involves more than just beating inflation. It is about finding assets that can produce long-term financial freedom. However, there are only a few such assets accessible to regular people. That's why it's crucial to invest time in due diligence to understand the type of assets you'll invest in, rather than simply deploying your capital.

To achieve your financial goals, you must know what you want and select asset classes and portfolio distributions that can make them possible. Understanding the mechanisms of return in a particular asset class, such as rental demand, appreciation, and tax advantages, is crucial to positioning yourself to capture them for the long-term. Ownership is also essential as all major advantages go to the owner, not the co-host or arbitrager.
